Narrative drama and short film work.
One of my favourite editing projects of all time: This film about the preparation, perseverance, doubt, and victory of the climb was part of a multi-year series at LIFE church. It played live across auditoriums during services, as well as online.
The slip and fall was an unplanned 'happy' accident, and blood and sweat went into capturing it. I really enjoyed finding the chapters, pace, and letting the viewer feel like they're right there in the moment, and the combination of hero, action cam, and drone footage. As well as building out the sound design.
Shot by director Abe Raffills and DOP Josh Allen, with climber Logan James. VFX snow and final climber comp shot by Russell Ng. Voiceover by Jamin Greenwood, and supporting actor Emily Raffills.
I edited this film for part of a live Easter creative presentation service for LIFE church, directly transitioning into a musical performance.
It was shot across several locations and days in New Zealand's North Island, with a compact crew of about six.
Complemented by an original script narrated in Hebrew, the film really allowed us to walk with Mary through her grief and ultimate surpise and joy, through some epic locations.
Actor - Becky Button, Director - Abe Raffills, Camera Operator - Jared Buckley, Art Director - Rhiannon Peters, Assist - Mathew Alexander.
