Aly's Impact Story

I was lucky to edit Aly's story, a woman whose life of challenge took a real turn when she found faith and belonging. A story captured on location in Cambodia.

I love slowing down, really hearing someone, and helping them tell authentic stories that matter.

This is my why: to reach people going through their challenge, and those who can act to make a difference.

Malaine's 'From Death to Life' Story

With such a powerful testimony, we wanted to really expand and 'show, not tell' with intentional B-roll. I was able to direct and produce this story from start to finish (directly researching, storyboarding, shooting b-roll, interviewing, and editing) and am really proud of the result. 

Lighting this interview set was a fun challenge, with a talented Art Department executing the vision. 

This testimony played in-service and then online as part of LIFE's Easter service, themed 'From Death to Life', sharing an emotive picture of that theme played out in Malaine's life. There's little with as much power to reach people, than an authentic story told vulnerably.

Jordy's 'Why' 

Designing and lighting this set was a satisfying one. We wanted to build something in line with the design moodboard that would be simple enough to repeat for a year-long series and not distract from the subject, but also set a distinct mood and template for the year. 

This repeating series of testimonies didn't have the resource for b-roll and further shoots, so we needed a format that could confidently capture all we'd need to cover and reinforce the edit during the ninety minutes that the subject was in studio.

Rhiyah's Empowerment Story

We wanted to show the impact of Quality Education Services (now Lifeskills) on someone's life, how it not only met them in that moment but gave them the tools to change their own life. That's when Rhiyah's awesome story came into the picture. 

We had an hour in Rhiyah's home to interview her, and about an hour outside of that for any B-roll. I had limited resource to research, shoot and edit this one, and I think the final output came out really solid and most importantly answering that brief above.

Indi's Story of being 'Found' 

Created for part of LIFE's Easter campaign, to play in-service and illustrate the 'Found' theme.

This one benefited from really careful pre-production interviews and paper edits to uncover and unpack Indi's story, decide on the areas we wanted to touch on, and then a thoughtful interview shoot and edit to make sure we landed that. I learned a lot here guided by Craig Henderson from Joy Inc and LIFETV, and had the benefit of veteran DOP Matt Gerand. 

G's Story of finding Family

We wanted to promote 'Next Steps', a pathway at LIFE for new people to get better connected at church. 

Shooting and editing this story shows that a testimony doesn't have to be complicated, just carefully chosen, shared openly, and cleanly presented.
